How to be brave in front of a group of people?

Steps
  1. 1

If you are going to make a speech, or do something in front of someone (or many people) Just take one deep breath. (as easy as it sounds) However, letting the oxygen into your system calms yourself down temporarily, making it easier for you to take that first step.

2

Remember, the first step is always going to be the hardest, but once you get into doing what you are doing, everything runs better than expected.

  1. 3

Don't think about what you are doing as something that you are being forced against your will to do. Rather think about it as something you WANT to do, or as an opportunity of a life time. Think about the people that you are going to effect.

  1. 4

Don't overwork yourself! It will be much easier if you walk out in front of the people with a carefree mind

  1. 5

Smile.(unless you are in a play, in that case, just be the character) When making a speech, standing up with your head high, having good posture and a smile on your face makes the audience see you as a very CONFIDENT person (regardless if you feel that way or not)

Tips

  • It is always good to invite a friend that you feel comfortable with, when you are in front of a crowd that way you can look at them if you need to.
  • Have notes to prompt you for each important point. If you know the material well enough, you won't need every detail in your notes, but you should have an outline in case you get stuck.
  • The first sentence or two is the hardest part; you will probably be breathing quickly and your heartbeat will be raised. After the first sentence or two you will not be so anxious. Therefore, have a ready line or two for your opening. A bit of humor is always good, or a very brief story - but know it by heart and when you are done the rest will be easy
  • The more prepared you are the better you will do. Practice your speech in front of friends or family and, lacking that, practice in front of a mirror.
  • Start small. Proposing a toast at social gatherings is a great way to build up confidence in front of people.
